How we build a luggage quotation
We do not publish price lists. A case built to your shell thickness, hardware grade, artwork and packing is priced per project — so instead of a number printed on a page, here is exactly what goes into the sheet you receive, and what we need from you to produce it.
Four things, and the quote gets accurate
None of them are mandatory. The more you can tell us, the closer the first number lands to the final one.
1 · The product
Product line and sizes, or a photo and a link to the item you are selling today. A reference sample works best — we will tell you what we can build from it.
2 · The specification
Shell material (ABS, ABS+PC, PP or aluminium), trolley system, lining, zipper and lock grade. If you do not have a spec yet, tell us the retail price band and we will build towards it.
3 · The volume
Total quantity, number of colours and whether this is a one-off or a repeating programme. Tooling cost is amortised differently on each.
4 · The destination
Country or discharge port. It decides both the compliance documents we have to budget for and the freight leg.
An itemised sheet, not a single figure
The quotation arrives line by line, so you can see which choice moved the cost and adjust it.
| Line on the sheet | What it covers | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Shell | Extruded ABS / PC sheet, formed and trimmed | Material grade and thickness, part weight |
| Hardware | Wheels, trolley system, handles, locks, zippers | Supplier tier and running-test duration |
| Lining & sewing | Interior fabric, mesh dividers, straps, logo label | Fabric density, pocket count, stitch specification |
| Artwork & finishing | Printing, heat transfer, embroidery, mould texture | Number of colours, placement, licensed-artwork fees |
| Assembly & labour | Line assembly, riveting, QC headcount on the line | Construction complexity, tolerance requirements |
| Packing | Inner bag, carton, inserts and labelling | Carton grade, print colours, destination labelling |
| Tooling | New moulds or existing-tooling confirmation | Number of cavities, shell size, ownership terms |
| Consumables & overhead | Power, waste and factory overhead per piece | Run length, shell size, scrap rate on the first run |
| Testing & certification | Third-party tests your destination market requires | Standard set (EN 71, CPSIA, REACH), number of reports, laboratory lead time |
| Freight | Sea or air leg to the named port or door | Incoterm, port pair, pieces per container |
| Sample & development | Prototype build, courier, artwork set-up | Existing shell or new geometry, number of sample rounds |
| Documentation | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin or Form E | Destination, tariff preference scheme, labelling checks |
- Each line quoted separately — you can see exactly what you change when you change it
- Incoterm stated on the sheet (FOB Shanghai / Ningbo as standard, others on request)
- Validity window and lead time written next to the number
- Tooling shown as its own cost with ownership terms agreed in writing
The number that matters is landed cost per piece
Two quotations with the same unit price can differ by several percent once freight is divided by what actually fits in the container. This is why we plan the carton before we quote.
| Packing scenario | Pieces / 40HQ | Freight per piece* |
|---|---|---|
| Carton re-engineered to pallet | +4% to +8% | −4% to −7% |
| Size mix planned per container | +8% to +12% | −7% to −11% |
*Illustrative, and relative to a loose-carton, no-optimisation baseline: freight per piece moves inversely with pieces loaded, at constant freight cost per container.
- Pieces per 40HQ stated on every quotation sheet
- Size mixes simulated before confirmation
- Nested packing for kids ride-on shells where geometry allows
- Pallet and floor-loading options compared
How the commercial side works
Incoterms
FOB Shanghai or Ningbo as standard. EXW, CIF and DDP quoted on request, with the freight leg always shown as a separate line so it stays negotiable.
Samples
Prototype in 7–10 days on existing shells, 15–20 days with artwork development. Courier cost is the buyer's.
Payment & validity
Terms, quotation validity and lead time are written on the sheet and agreed before tooling starts — no verbal conditions.
